I may have had my first less than successful purchase... Despite the fact that I wouldn't wear them outside (and therefore don't really need them) I've always loved the look of long boots, and a few days ago I came across a pair that were actually a reasonable price AND in my size, on ebay. So I snapped them up quick.
They arrived yesterday and I tried them on in the evening. I'll start with the plus points, and then move onto the negatives. Sitting on the bed, after I worked out how to angle my feet to get them in, they are very comfortable. I love how they look and they definitely give me some euphoria. They are also incredibly warm, as the material just traps all the heat from my legs.
Now for the less perfect things. Number one - I utterly failed to think through the fact that the length of over-knee boots would, weirdly, be the length of a leg from foot to past the knee. They are massive, and I have no idea how best to hide them away. Then the second, and arguably much bigger issue. When I bought them, I knew from the picture that they had a heel on them (that was part of the appeal). However, now that they are actually here... it's a full, 6 inch heel 😂 As someone who has never worn heels before, that's not a height you can gradually get used to. Combine that with the fact that I have mobility issues when wearing flat shoes (or no shoes), I basically cannot walk in them. I managed to make it from living room to the kitchen, nearly tipping over several times despite the fact that I was holding onto the wall the whole way there lol.
So I spent most of the evening taking them on and off. Because after an hour of taking them off, I'd miss how they looked and how they made me feel, and I'd think "I'm sure it's not as bad as I remember. I'll just try again and take it slow". And then as soon as I actually had to move anywhere, realise that "yes yes it is" and have to take them off again. *Sigh*

As you say "Oh dear". That must be so disappointing for you. Sounds like you'll just to have elegantly sit around in them and enjoy that. We don't want you falling over and doing yourself a mischief.
I haven't looked at shoes so far, not something I really pay much attention to. I'll have to get some eventually though. I'll play it safe with some flats I think.

Hi, high heels are really a special experience. I begun with low, but took a lot of pleasure with 12cm. I wear them as often as possible and endure them as other women. It is not really confortable but so feminine. I love watching them on my feet, even with trousers. Jean + high heels: so sexy!!!! 👠 Chloé

Haha Maria I made a similar mistake when I first bought heels. They were way too high, and they laces were this complicated wrap-up-the-ankle thing I couldn't figure out. They were definitely "fuck me" pumps with no practical use for a closeted trans girl who would wear them around the house haha. My next purchase was ballet flats.

So that's a step in the right direction. Although now I'm discovering that quite quickly they do become painful to walk in. As it's actual pain and not just discomfort, I don't know if that is something that will ease as I get more used to them or not 😕 But at least there has been some progress in the right direction lol.

Congrats on being able to move around in your own shoes! Thank you 😂 My next life goal is to be able to drink something without subsequently choking on it (which I did today, because apparently I am a complete klutz) 😝

I'll pop this in this thread as it is related...
I've just finished watching the latest episode of Dr Who. One of the actresses in it, I recognised from somewhere, but I couldn't think where from. She was older in this (obviously), but I could not place her. The thing is, as I was thinking about it, I thought "I know you, you were in... something. You wore really nice boots in it". That is the one solitary thing I could remember 😂
After the episode ended, I looked her up. The show I knew her from was called The Beiderbecke Affair. I last watched that at least 15 years ago. So apparently even back then, back before I even knew what gender identity etc were, THAT was the thing that my brain latched onto. Which... kind of amazed me!

That is quite an odd connection to make. It's quite remarkable all the stuff we store away in our memory banks, all there to make some connection further down the line.
Thinking of it now I can remember this woman who frequented the same supermarket as my mum. I was very little, probably even pre-school age, so in the early 70s. She wore all this very glam rock attire, with make-up to match. She stood out because she looked so very different to everyone else I had ever seen in real life. The one outfit I really remember is this all-white get up she had, including these long white boots. The memory is a bit blurry so I can't remember exactly, but the image is there all the same.
Before I go might I ask that we see these notorious new boots of yours. You don't have to be wearing them, unless you want to show off your legs of course.

I've noticed something when I feel brave and wear the boots. If I see myself in the mirror, I don't like how outrageously tall they make me. But if I can't see myself relative other objects I don't notice the difference. However! When I take them off, I do notice that I am now smaller, and that gives me this weird, happy little buzz at being "short".

Most genetic males would not feel that way haha.
Is it like when you drive a big truck for awhile and get into your little car and then it feels like you're driving a go kart?

That's a very good comparison - yes it's very similar.
I made another realisation over them the other night when I took them off. I've always thought that they had no grip whatsoever, and that that probably contributed a lot to my problems. Zipping them back up and then lifting them to fold, I realised there is some protective plastic on the sole of each boot. So of course they have no grip 🤦♀️

My word Mara, that really is something, not checking the soles until now. At least you hadn't gone for a tumble before noticing.
