As a distraction from very important matters I have been contemplating having a middle name for myself. It isn't really necessary and wouldn't use very much, but I always liked having a middle name before. I quite liked how it spelled out a word.
I have been thinking of maybe a family name, or names I rejected because they would've been given to close family members. I haven't put a lot of thought into this, and it really is just a bit of fun. So far only Alice and Eleanor have come to mind.
Happy to hear any suggestions as to what others might think go well with Lily, or that would suit me. Also I still don't want any names that are the same first name as your wives, mothers, daughters etc.
Thanks,
Lily

Anne pops into my head, but I think that is only because I think Anne is the de facto go to middle name. I like Elenor.
My given middle name is my grandfather's name, so I would bet I would've had one of my grandmother's names had I been born female. The feminine name I chose for myself is the name my parents tell me would have been mine had I been born female.

Anne's a nice name. Two of my great-grandmothers had that name, one of their daughters also had that name. Unfortunately it would mean I'd be Lily Anne which is too much like the name Lilian.
I've mentioned before about the awful names my mother would've given me, so I won't be calling myself Lily Davina. Grandmother's name are a no-no, neither of them were particularly great mothers to my parents, my father's mum especially so. One of them had a nice name, but it is quite common and the same as that friend I came out to.
There is my mother's name but it is very similar in sound to my surname, this would be fine if I had a third forename I suppose. There's a trans girl on that Doctor Who forum who gave herself about seven of them. She also changed her surname too.
Of my female ancestors that I've traced my three favourites are Jemima (it just doesn't have that problematic association here in the UK), Phoebe and Selina. Going through these one-by-one.
Lily Jemima - doesn't quite go for me. It's one of those names that are nice on other women but not for me Lily Phoebe - don't really go together, and it still looks too similar to phobe Lily Selina - I do quite like this. I think it flows quite well. From my research she might have spelt it Selena instead
I have also been thinking of a name from some media that I really love. There is a character called Serena that I really like, the name is of course very similar to Selina. Similarly Lily Serena works quite well too.
Any thoughts on Selina/Serena as my middle name?

I think Selina works well! With a middle name, I think the meaning is more important than how it sounds since people don't typically use it in day-to-day life anyway. I'd vote for Selina.

I prefer Serena as it has more meaning. It shows my love for JRPGs and Dragon Quest in particular. I really like the character and the name of course. She is the healer in the party and has a kind caring nature to match that. This is a quality I think that I have.
Since writing the original post on this subject, I've realised that unfortunately I will be suffering the same loss that Serena does in the game, the loss of her sister. There is a very touching scene when she accepts her loss and shows courage in moving forward with her life, while also keeping her memories of her sister close to her.
Hang on wasn't this supposed to be a distraction from all of that. Oh well.

Sorry, I've just noticed that I hadn't read through this post! It must have been posted just before my short absence, so then didn't show up when I came back. I too would vote for Serena, as it has meaning for you given the relation to a character that you like and feel an affinity towards

I will be going with Serena as my middle name, as it is meaningful to me in a few ways.
This makes my first two initials LS. Perhaps I should go with a third name so that it spells out LSD. Maybe not though. I think that'll be it for the time being.

Congrats! A big day indeed!
I never thought about what my feminine middle name would be. You have me thinking about it though.

I've always thought that mine would probably be Kara, after Kara Danvers AKA Supergirl. Also I just really like the name.

Is Supergirl related to Captain Marvel?

Is Supergirl related to Captain Marvel? No, or at least I strongly suspect not. Supergirl is from the DC universe, whereas Captain Marvel is from the Marvel universe. They do share a surname though, so who knows...

It's just a coincidence Why Captain Marvel and Supergirl have the same last name
You might be surprised to know that Marvel weren't the first comic book publisher to have a superhero called Captain Marvel. A company called Fawcett did. He rivalled Superman in popularity back in the 40s and 50s. He's the main character in the Shazam! film.

I thought so, but thanks for finding that to clear it up. It had some information in it that I didn't know too š
I know that Deadpool was created to be a blatant ripoff of a DC character (Deathstroke). But apart from that, I think all coincidences tend to be just that. Unless anyone knows something I don't (which is quite likely)?
