I've always had a bit of a thing for jackets and coats. A lot of it coming from liking to have that extra layer, which for a long time I put down to psychologically feeling it was a safety barrier between me and the world, and then realising that they were probably functioning as dysphoria hoodies (even if they didn't have a hood).
As I'm sure you can guess, I always thought women's coats looked more interesting, comfortable and stylish than men's coats/jackets. But as those items don't tend to be cheap and aren't something that you'd just wear around the house, I never went for one as I figured it would just be an unjustifiable expense.
Little one's school had an Easter fair last Friday, part of which was a 2nd hand clothing stall to raise funds for the PTA. Looking through the age 10 box, alongside a couple of pairs of school trousers, I found a lovely winter coat. She liked it, so I put in a donation and away we walked with our things. Once we got to her mum's, we realised that it wasn't AGE 10 - somehow a women's SIZE 10 had ended up in the box. So that came back and will be put away for a few years until she's grown into it.
Bringing it back here when I was on my own though, I did try it on. Which was a bit bittersweet. On the one hand, I fitted into a size 10 and could even zip it up (heck yeah! š) On the other hand, it was like... this has just increased my longing to have something like this, and I can't have this one as I bought it for you and you KNOW that I bought it for you, so I can't just "aquire" into my things lol. Sad š
