I just rediscovered my love of K-pop. I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube the past few weeks to cheer me up. The genre is really suited to doing that. Upbeat music, lively choreography, pretty young women and colourful outfits. There's one group I've gotten into for the first time, aespa. They've been about for three years but I haven't listened to much new music of any genre in that time, so hadn't heard them before. music.youtube.com/watch?v=wwGRYpAoY78&si=SSS_wWKk4SDGsBSIThrough some research I've found that they're having a concert in London on September 28. I've found tickets for £55 so with travel that wouldn't be too expensive to go. It would be on my own though. I did ask some friends but they're busy or not interested. On the one hand I'd really like to go. It might be my best opportunity to see this group, or go to a K-pop concert. However I will be on my own, and presenting male and that is so much more difficult for me now. Also the vast majority of the audience will be teenage girls, making me stand out even more, making me feel like I look like a creepy uncle. Could someone give me a confidence boost, so that I can find the courage to buy the ticket?

I don't know much about K-Pop, but I do love concerts. One of my favorite things to do is go to big concerts. If you like the band, you'll definitely have a good time. You should go. Have fun!

I booked my ticket tonight. I was holding off because of how I've been feeling. I watched an interview with them which has some footage from their tour. I know I would regret not taking the opportunity, by the time they'd tour here again they could be instantly sold out. I think I'm lucky to have discovered them just when I did, and that there tickets still available.
Other audience members will be focused on the concert and won't care about me. Though it won't be great presenting male, it won't be so very terrible, and once the music starts that'll have my whole attention.

Here's how it the concert went.
I didn't do any sightseeing in the end. That felt a bit too much to cram in. I just hang out at the venue. It's a large dome, with a circular mall full of shops and places to eat. There were youngsters dancing to Kpop at the front entrance, just concert goers creating their own entertainment. I had a walk around both inside and out. I bought some band merch at the shop. I got a light stick, a must-have for a Kpop gig, and a set of enamel pins.
I got the cheapest ticket so the view wasn't so good. I was on the top row right at the back. There were video screens of course, so I switched between those and my bird's-eye view of the girls. As expected they performed amazingly well. It felt a bit unreal that I was there watching them live. I waved my lightstick about, and sang along. There was lots of screaming from the rest of the audience, but I can't manage to do that.
The girls spoke to the audience throughout the gig. One of them, Winter, said that, during her time as a trainee performer, one of her dreams was to perform in London, and so the concert was extra special for her. I felt somewhat touched to be part of the audience the night her dream came true.
I was so pleased I decided to go. I was feeling so low last week, that going to London on my own seemed impossible, as did being able to enjoy myself. I had wanted to go to a Kpop concert for years and feel really good that I finally have. I consider it as a big victory and reward for me after everything I've been through in the past two years.

The group I saw in concert is releasing a new single next month. They have started publicity by releasing teaser pics. Here's my two favourites from the group. Winter Karina
