Congrats to the bunch from England!
The North American version of Euros starts this weekend, but the US is fielding a B-team. I will watch, but am more excited about the US women at the Olympics. They've dominated World Cups but have struggled in the Olympics (by their standards).

I did think of something exercise-related that I do do actually. Not really a sport, but gets my heart rate up, and not really exciting enough to start a new thread over lol. Despite my love of music and my abilities at creating it, I have never been able to dance. I just looked awkward. My only move was the snack-table shuffle lol. But recently, on evenings where I'm all dressed up, I've found myself setting Spotify to a cheesy pop playlist and dancing around my living room. And from what I can see reflected back at me in the black of the TV screen, as a girl I got moves! If you imagine that "club" style of dancing, boys and girls dance very differently. I still wouldn't know where to even start with "guy" dancing, but the "girl" moves just come naturally And it suits me down to the ground - I don't have to go anywhere for it, can do as much or little as I want, it's not too physically taxing, and if the pain levels do start to creep up then I'm next to my sofa!

On the subject of dancing. When I did go clubbing, and we're talking indie disco or 80's/90's nights, not more traditional clubs, I really enjoyed the dancing aspect. I couldn't socialise to save my life, but I could get up and get down when the right music came on. People often commented on what a good dancer I was too.
Since accepting myself I have pictured my female form dancing to tunes I've put on, both as a younger woman and at the age I am now. I think that I am more graceful and free in my dancing in that form than I have ever have been in my male body.

Ha! Its funny you say that. I HATE dancing. I was notorious for not wanting to go to clubs in college. I would ask if the place we were going was "chill" (aka no dancing) and if I was told no I often just stayed home.

You hate dancing, but you're the one here who's bought themselves a ballerina outfit. It looks like it'll be case of got all the gear, no idea

England choked.
US won their Gold Cup opener but it was a 1-0 win over Haiti. Not particularly inspiring.

Thanks. Speaking as someone who knows very little, it looked to me like they lost their energy for most of the second half. Like maybe they had a nap at half time and hadn't quite woken up again.
I read a piece yesterday that said that most of the rest of the world wanted Italy to win on account of how we as a country have been over the last few years. Sad though it is to say, that doesn't overly surprise me. And with the behaviour of the fans yesterday (smashing up London and storming the stadium), I think it's fair to say that the team themselves perhaps deserved a win, but that we as a country did not.

I feel bad for the team, though in the end they came up short so didn't deserve it. I couldn't give a toss about how bad this makes England fans feel. I heard too much about how we needed a lift after 16 months Covid, as if we've been the only one suffering. This is perhaps a sign of where I am right now, but looking at the fans at Wembley yesterday I wondered how they would treat me if they knew I was trans, or anyone else that was trans. I didn't think it would be very favourably to put it mildly. I knew I didn't want to be in that crowd. I'm happy to support the team, but can not feel part of that crowd, either physically or mentally.

Well from the fact that they were shouting abuse at OUR OWN players just based on the colour of their skin... I think it's probably fair to say that it would take something a lot less "controversial" (sorry I can't think of a better word) than being trans to make them dislike you. Personally I wouldn't call them fans though. Someone like yourself, who I'm guessing could name all the England players and their positions, probably what clubs they play for - that's what I would call a fan. I would call myself a supporter - I don't know much but I was cheering them on. Those "fans" I would tbh describe as a mob of thugs, whose emotional instability centres around football. It doesn't matter whether their team won or lost - they were going to behave inappropriately and dangerously. I read about families who had spent a lot of money to be there to witness history who turned around and came home rather than watch the game as they didn't feel safe. Train stations having to be evacuated before the game had even begun. The people responsible for those things aren't supporting their team or their country. They're making things harder for both. They just want an excuse to let out their anger and be violent, and for them football is that excuse. If they really cared about the game or the team, they would have worked to make it a safe, stress-free place for the players and also the fans. Those kids who turned around may have been our next dream 11, but are now perhaps put off the game for life, based on what they witnessed of the culture around it. I'll get off my soap box now

Yeah English football has lots of problems beyond just lack of winning trophies.

The US kicked some Canadian butt today (OK we escaped with a probably-undeserved 1-0 win) but still. Onto the quarterfinals of the North American championship!
