So technically this was online, as I watched it on Netflix I just watched The Duff on Netflix - pretty typical girly high-school transformation film. I related very hard to the main character, played by Mae Whitman. She had that kind of cute, low-maintenance vibe that I imagine I would have. Also, (and it's not really a spoiler), there's a scene where she tries on "the dress" for the first time and says "I expected some kind of big Hollywood reveal, but it was just me in a dress" and it struck me that you could have the exact same scene in the exact same way but with a trans main character rather than a socially-awkward main character and it would work exactly the same. It's such a mystery why I related so much to that main character, isn't it

Well I'm wracking my brain and I can't think of a reason either Had I had that reaction when I put on my cocktail dress I'm not sure if I'd be here now typing this. That scene in the movie of my life would go very differently.

I think I phrased that really badly where I had brain fog last night. Or I had a kind of head cold delirium causing me to interpret it differently than usual. There again I still have a cold and brain fog, so wish me luck lol.
I think what I meant was that what she was saying reflected what an audience (or anyone else in the room with her) would have experienced. So there were no fireworks, no flashing lights as she magically transformed into a different person. In terms of what there is for anyone to see: "it's just me in a dress". The real transformation happened on the inside. In the very next scene she goes downstairs and her mum sees her and comments on how beautiful she looks in the dress, and she looks really happy at the compliment, so clearly it has had a positive impact for her.
So if it WAS a movie about a trans girl - if there was a friend in the room with her, it could play very similarly - the trans character feeling very, very happy while the friend can't understand the big deal because literally all they've done is change what clothes they're wearing which to them doesn't seem like a big deal. I hope I've explained it a bit better this time around lol.

Yes, you have. That scene would work wonderfully well in a story about a trans character. The seemingly casual change of clothes bringing about a huge change to the person inside.

Jess, what you say is really important, what is normal for us as men, is normal for women on the other side. Then wearing female clothes should be a revelation but a « normal » revelation note the extraordinary one. We must fell as confortable with a dress as we are daily with our casual clothes. When I wear a dress, I fell not just happy to be clothed with female clothes but also reassures because I have some time to let my inner identity goes outside through the clothes and feel normal, a normal woman.

Dressing is about letting my other half breathe. She's been holding her breath for quite awhile now!

Has someone watched zerophilia? No, I haven't even heard of it! What's it about? You should look for it, it’s a movie about a teenager who discover that he has the ability to change his gender when he is aroused because of a very rare genetic specificity. it’s quite old, 2005.
