I love their look and the outfits. If I was younger then I wish I could look and dress like that. Putting myself out there to be seen isn't my thing, but perhaps if I looked like that then it would be.
Some sports have them in the UK, but it isn't part of our culture here. Our education system had always been a lot less co-ed and much more gender separated. There wouldn't be any female students to cheer the male sports teams on at an all-boys school. Also this type of thing is increasingly seen as sexist - boys get to do the sports, and girls are just there to look pretty.

No, in french culture it doesn’t exists, the few who exists are not taken seriously. It’s really different than in US. France has the problem to like only intellectuals, especially the cursed one, the one who doesn’t earn money (yes , we have a big problem with money) and we discover that they were genius after their death. Then sport is only for people who aren’t smart enough to being an intellectual. Then you imagine how are considered the cheerleaders… that’s really a pity 💋 Chloé

Thinking on this some more I believe the Kpop girl groups perform a different but similar function. Kpop girl idols typically dress prettily, and are known for their charm and good looks. Many young girls aspire to be like them, and it is quite common for young Korean women to take dance lessons so that they can perform the choreography too. Jessica wishes she could have been a cheerleader, and I wish I could have looked like a Kpop star. In South Korea all able-bodied men have to perform about 18 months of military service before they reach 30. They have a very rough dehumanising life while doing so. However it is quite a common occurence for their commanders to hold morale boosting concerts for them. Girl groups are hired to perform a few songs for the men. As you might imagine the conscripts go absolutely mad when the girls turn up, and enthusiastically join in with the songs. The girl groups love these performances because they get so much energy and love from that audience.

Here in the US, as a girl, you can be a cheerleader or an athlete. Some are both. Women's sports are pretty big here too. And the cheerleaders will cheer at the girls games too. We are increasingly seeing male cheerleaders too, especially at the college level. The professional teams have cheerleaders too......but they're usually dressed more like straight up strippers haha.

Maybe it just feels that way because you're not intellectual enough? 😜
