Probably. I think it also helped that the games were on at 1pm when there wasn't much else on. If it were competing with college football or NFL you can forget about it.

Sorry your team didn't go through, but they were outclassed by the Netherlands, who really impressed me with this performance.
It's the big match for us today against Senegal. If we play to our potential we should be too good for them, however they shouldn't be underestimated. It only needs a draw and five good penalties to get through after all.

Yeah the difference in class showed. And it was the same crap we've been doing all year. We held the ball for a majority of the game but couldn't do a thing with it. We only scored 3 goals in 4 games. Not gonna get it done.

I was reading an article the other day about how football (or soccer š) is rapidly gaining in popularity in the US in recent years. Apparently some stats show that it has actually overtaken baseball!
Apart from the opening game, I've only watched the England games in the competition. There again, that's more than I would have watched in previous years. What have you all done to me š”š

That's nothing compared with what have you've done to me? I thought I was cis before I came here Well England got through. I was very impressed with how well we played. Everyone knows what they're doing, they're well-organised, and have many players that offer a genuine goal threat. Often England lose control of matches, and make it too tight at the end (nice phrasing) but after they got the third goal they just comfortably saw the game out. The sloppiness early on is a bit concerning. France will likely make us pay for that if we do that against them. France are of course a very good side, and have two great attacking players, but they look far from invincible. So far in this tournament we haven't played a team that's really had a decent goal threat, but France certainly have that. My main concern with England is at the back. oth of our central defenders have a mistake or two in them. So far they've been solid though. Now they're through I can sit back and enjoy the remaining matches in this round.

I would be surprised if soccer had truly overtaken baseball here. But it is absolutely gaining popularity no doubt. Both international soccer and the Premier League have become noteworthy, if not niche, parts of the culture.

So England went out. It was a fairly even game, France took their chances well whereas Kane fluffed his chance with that second penalty. Your big players have got to do the business in those crucial moments. Genuinely thought we had a chance of winning the tournament. At least Chloe will be pleased I guess.
Would love it if Morocco won the tournament, despite their performances so far I think the other three have a better shot, especially France and Argentina.

Really bummed to see Kane mess up. Missed an easy late one against the US too (which didn't bum me as much). It wasn't his best showing.

I've been catching a little bit of the Women's World Cup. I would've seen more of it but have been falling asleep during matches. Watched the openinng match and England's game. England didn't play great but you don't win a tournament in your first game, so hopefully they'll build some form as the tournament goes along.

US didnāt play great either. We outshot them 27-0 but only won 3-0. Next game is a rematch of the last WC Final against Netherlands. Most of the games are between midnight and 7am here ao it has been a struggle to follow it but I have. Ive recorded all the games and skipped through and watched the highlights with my little one the next morning. Both the first two US games were at 8pm but the last one is at 2am so weāll have to wake up in the middle of the night to watch it.
