USA vs. Mexico Gold Cup Final tonight. It was an impressive showing by the USA in beating the Asian champions Qatar, even with our B team. We will get destroyed by Mexico though. They have their strongest team and we have our B team. Plus we beat them in a great, controversial game a few months ago with both teams using their strongest squads. It was 3-2 in extra time and we saved a penalty at the death. Mexico isn't going to take it easy on our B-team after that showing.
I might stay up and watch the women in the Olympic semifinals. 1am my time. Taking on Canada. Seems funny that the US and Canada have to travel to another continent to play haha.

The US men beat Mexico despite playing their B-team. Scored in the 117th minute, three minutes away from penalties. One of the best US soccer matches I have ever watched.
The women didn't fare so well, losing to Canada in the semifinals. This was their fifth game, and they only actually won one in regulation. Probably their worst major tournament of all-time, although they're still playing for bronze this week.

I was sure the women's team would come good, but they never did.

I caught a little of the Olympic basketball last night. It was the first time I've actually watched a proper basketball match.
I saw it was the USA women's team and thought "yay, I can support them as that's where Jessica is from". Then 2 minutes later realised they were against France, so I couldn't take a side as they are Chloe's team!
Then saw a little of the last event in women's gymnastics this morning.

As I have hinted at before, I am a big sports fan! I support Tottenham Hotspur and the USA National team in soccer, but also love my hometown Kansas City Royals (baseball), Kansas City Chiefs (football), Sporting KC and my alma mater Missouri State University Bears! Also, fun reveal about me......I am actually a coach as my full time job in real life! What about you all? Any of you sports fans? Uhoh Jessica, This is one area of us maybe not seeing eye to eye, hopefully we are wearing eye makeup when we look at each other, but I am a major Las Vegas Raiders fan. I have been all of my life. Oh well at least we are NFL fans. Maybe someday we both could attend a game together at Arrowhead when the Chiefs and Raiders are playing wearing our teams jerseys dressed as female fans and sitting side by side as true girlfriends. What a release that would be.

I would never have dared to go to a Raiders game in Oakland wearing a Chiefs jersey though. Those people are ba-ru-tal. I expect nothing less than the same from the Vegas-ers haha. Being a Raiders fan in KC would be no picnic either haha.

You saw it, France beat slovenia in basketball and reach US in final. I’m fond of basket-ball players, I prefer decathlon ones ( more sexy for me). We know who will win but it is a very good surprise in France. 4 french teams on 6 (3 men-3 women)are in final, it is historical. 🇫🇷 Chloé.

Wasn't really sure where to post this, as it could potentially go in a few different places, but here seemed like the best fit. Basically, in a word... lies I decided that I would try to lose a little bit of weight again, I think maybe having that acceptance of who I am giving me more of a reason to look after myself. I bought some rainbow leopard print gym shorts (see below) so I would have something to exercise in. So yesterday evening I changed into them and a sports bra and found a 30 minute aerobics workout on Youtube to follow along to. Now we're all told about how exercise releases a rush of endorphins and natural highs etc... I'm calling bunkum By the end of 30 minutes I was just an out of breath sweaty mess, and today I just hurt EVERYWHERE. Which part of this am I supposed to enjoy lol?! I could understand it if I'd gone and moved a load of heavy weights around, or gone for a 10 mile bike ride or something. But no - just a simple, "gentle" step aerobics routine. Jessica - as someone involved in the world of fitness, I hold you complicit in this deception

Jessica - as someone involved in the world of fitness, I hold you complicit in this deception Hahahaha. Look I am not one to tell someone who doesn't really want to exercise that she ought to. You do you. But I will say that it will get better if you stick with it. The first time out after a long layoff is usually pretty rough. It is possible you bit off more than you could chew. Take it slow and build yourself up and you'll be feeling much better in no time. Or don't if you don't want to! If you want to stick the aerobics (as a coach) I would suggest maybe doing ten minutes next time. Then a day off. Then 10 minutes. Then a day off. Then 10 minutes. Then two days off. Then you do the same thing the following week but with 20 minutes. Then do the same thing the following week but do 20 the first day, 30 the second day, then 10 the last day. Then take the next week off (or if you're feeling good go back to ten). If you do this report back to me how you're feeling and we can make a new plan from there! I'm serious. Or, again, don't if you don't want to. When it comes to losing weight diet is way more important that working anyway FWIW. I am sure this was more than you expected to get and feel free to ignore it but I am a coach!

I might well take you up on that! I'll PM you about it, as I do have extra factors that add in extra difficulties, but as they only apply to me, there's probably not much point everyone else reading through them all!
I've come back to excercise after time without doing any a number of times, so I know how the body grumbles lol. I think what surprised me was the extent of the grumble in relation to what I'd done. Like when I went back to cycling and did 20 miles first time back, I understood why I felt sore for a few days after. Same when I joined a gym and tried every piece of equipment first time there lol. But with this, even though I knew it was getting my heart rate, the actual movements didn't feel physically difficult, hence my surprise the next day that they apparently had taxed the muscles!
Yeah I've seen over and over that diet is the more important. I have a large appetite and a small willpower though lol. Mostly around crisps (potato chips). I worked out the other day that if over the past 3 years I'd had two less sharing bags per week, then according to the maths I'd now weigh less than 10 stone lol.

You probably used a lot of muscles you don't typically use. That'll cause anyone to be sore!
That is pretty common with diets. I have had the same issue. Typically, it takes a couple of weeks of willpower to get yourself off the food you are "addicted" to. If you can last a couple of weeks, you can usually get past it and avoid it much easier. But those first two weeks are really tough! Often times people are literally addicted. A lot of that junk food is designed to give you that type of reaction! It has definitely happened to me!

That's true. Thinking more about it as well, the movements were quite fast - even though they weren't necessarily challenging to do, I did struggle to keep up in places. So that probably contributed as well - a mixture of using ones I'm not used to using and using ones that are used more often but in a way that is unfamiliar to them.
I wouldn't say I have ever tried to "go on a diet" as it were, as I know that that mindset generally only gives good results in the short term. I've tried to make positive changes to what I eat a few times over the years, with mixed success depending on what the change is. A lot of the time I will be successful for a while, and then end up going back to old ways through circumstances that I have little/no control over. Like last year I tried to cook more from fresh and eat less processed "ready" foods, and was quite successful for about a month. Then I went through a week or so where my pain levels flared up massively, fatigue went up alongside it, and realistically my options were either those easy, processed foods, or not eating. Standing over a pot needing to keep stirring would have been agonising, for example. And then I remembered how much I like the taste of those processed meals, and how easy they are, and how much less free time they take to make, and suddenly I'm back to mostly eating those again :/

What you describe is extremely common. Actualy, it quite often takes even less than what you describe to knock people off their diets after a bit of success. So good for you.
Honestly the biggest thing with a diet is that you have to actually WANT to do it. Not just want to lose weight, but want to diet. Attitude is the most important thing. If you're not 100% into it, psyched about it, it probably wont work.
