I can find items I like, but then they aren't in quite the right size or can only be delivered directly to my home. I've got away with it so far but don't feel like having the worry of there being awkward looks or questions.
I think I should go for something fairly basic that goes well with a lot of other things. I just want something for wearing indoors as I'll only be wearing this within the venue. I'd like something that covers my arms as I can't really shave them. I was thinking more of a cardigan than a blazer for that.
I haven't given a single thought to wearing jewellery at all. It's a nice thought but not within my budget. Accessories can come later.

Hey Lily,
Yeah, a cardigan would work very well for what you're looking for. Plus you could put it over something else and hide that it doesn't maybe fit exactly perfectly.
Perhaps some womens jeans or something that isn't totally obvious but you know is womanly to get you in the right mindset?
Accessories don't have to be expensive, FWIW.

For my lower half I have those two skirts that I haven't worn at all. They're too nice to just lounge around in the house. I'm not adverse to wearing women's jeans and leggings, but after decades of wearing trousers they just do not give the same feel that skirts and dresses do.
I hear what you're saying about the price of accessories. It is more that it another added expense. I have just about convinced myself to buy a cardigan and a top. I'll have to make do with a hair ribbon, at least it's a little something extra.
I mentioned to Jo about what to wear. She told me about going to charity shops and finding something good in there. Not really the type of advice I was after. I'm not yet as brave as Maria is with doing that type of thing. I have had one idea on doing that though, that some of us go for a little shopping trip after the meet-up's finished. Perhaps not this month though.

I've found a few things to chose from. Unfortunately none of the cardigans in my size would be delivered here at home. It would just be a cardigan but do not want to risk having something delivered with Luxe Diva or Crazy Girls all over the packaging. So I don't think I'll be getting a cardigan after all. Anyway, what do you think of these? Loose fitting 3/4 sleeve plum topBaggy 3/4 sleeve baggy red topLong sleeve patterned jerseyLacy short-sleeved red topI'd definitely want something to over the short-sleeved option. I think I'd prefer one of the top two as these are looser fitting than than the long-sleeved jersey. I'm thinking that I could live with only a little bit of hairy arm showing. They do come in alternative colours, for the unpatterned tops that would include black. My skirts are pink & black and black & red. I'm thinking that the plum should still go with either of those. What are your thoughts on sleeve length and colour? Thanks, Lily

Was in two minds whether to say what I'm about to say, but felt I should as you'd never know otherwise.
It feels really bad when no-one replies to a post or message. It makes me feel ignored and unsupported. It also makes me less inclined to write on here.

Two other members have been online since I posted the above, and didn't acknowledge it.

When I get online on my phone I use a browser that does not keep my history When I click links it opens it up in the regular browser so I don't open links unless I am on my cpu at home. So I first saw this when I was on my trip and resolved to respond later when I was home and I simply forgot. I really apologize. I know how that can feel.

What are your thoughts on sleeve length and colour? Thanks, Lily I think a solid color is a good idea for your first public outing. Don't try to bite off more than you can chew your first time out. Honestly, I think I would go with the lacy short sleeved top. I think the other two are so close to a men's shirt you might not get the effect. The lacy short sleeved top is still obviously feminine because of the bottom of it, but still not a huge jump from what you've worn before. I think it will better put you in the right mindset. If you want to, you could wear a normal hoodie or something over it for long sleeves until you are comfortable taking it off and showing your arms a bit. Or find a long sleeve version that has the more feminine affects. As for color, I think the red is very pretty. I personally am a fan of black and pink. I think black might help make the baby step adjustments too. If you really want to go with a long sleeve one, I'd say the tunic top is a bit more feminine and I'd use a more feminine color than black on that one to bring out the feminine side. It really all comes down to what you're comfortable with, honestly. Balancing the femininity with what you're comfortable with doing.

Thanks for you for thoughts on these. You've really gone into detail which I appreciate. There were a few tops that I liked more but hey simply don't come in my size. I have to say that the only one with any real appeal for me was the one with the lacy bottom. That has short sleeves though. I don't hate the shape or size of my arms, they are not muscular at all really and are quite slender. It is simply how hairy they are. I don't want to shave them as that will invite too many questions, and it will be too hot to wear long sleeves in the house to cover the bareness up. I have found this long-sleeved top in my Saved For Later list. I've linked to the black one here, as that would go with more items. There is colour in both of my skirts so that is fine. Long sleeved black topMy only doubts about this is the neckline. It seems like it might be a bit low. I do shave that area every now and again, and the hair is also white there so doesn't show as much either. Do you think that I would need to wear stockings at all? This would be for indoors in the summer. I would barely be walking in them so my feet would need less protection at least. I have decided that I won't be makng my debut presenting female at these meet-ups. I know that they are all trans or trans allies, but they are still strangers, and it would be to too many people for a first time. I am thinking that as SupportU can do video calls that I could present that way to someone I trust there, either Jo or Penny, if I was to receive counselling from her again that is. When I was having calls with her, she would always say that it was an option. Jo has also said that she has had video calls with her clients which include other trans women. Lily

I know that it is sincere, and that you will endeavour to make sure it doesn't happen again. I hope everyone on here knows that I don't expect everyone to drop everything and rush to respond. You all lead busy lives and have higher priorities than my concerns. However it is more often than not the case that if I don't receive help or advice from you girls here, then I do not receive any at all. Therefore the absence of a response does feel worse than it would otherwise. Love, Lily

Lily I think we have a winner here Lily. It is decidedly feminine, but not such a huge jump into hyper femininity. If you button it up all the way the chest shoouldn't be a huge problem. Might show some hair but that's part of being a beginner trans person I guess. If you don't go with something of a scooping neckline, I don't think it will feel feminine. Why would you specifically need stockings. This is a shirt, right? Did I miss a bottom?

Yes, those two skirts I got back in January. I'll link them again. The top had to go with both of these, which that last one does. Red Paisley Print SkirtPink Flared SkirtI guess I'm really asking whether or not I even have to bother as I'd be barely walking about in the meeting, and certainly not at home. I have one pair of stockings, one of that par has a ladder in it. I also have a selection of long over-the-knee socks too. Was thinking of getting a new pair of stockings but if I don't need them I may not bother.

You don't NEED them, but I think they feel very nice and might put you in the right mindset. Stockings/tights/hose are one of my favorite types of female clothing. And it is an equalizer for the legs. Makes manly, hairy legs look decidedly more feminine.
