Sounds like a good plan.
Here's some tips for beginners I've learnt
1) In character creation pick your assets first, then choose your ability scores. Assets are all the skills, companions or spells you have. They all provide very good roleplaying opportunities and give a real sense of who your character is. From there you can then decide what ability scores you want. You can match these to the assets you've chosen. All the assets have an ability score tied to them.
2) Go easy on yourself to start off with. Start off with a combat against the lowest rank of enemies, troublesome, just to see how combat works. Enemies don't get defeated just by taking them to zero health. Similarly you don't necessarily die or fall unconscious when you're at zero health too.
3) When you roll a miss, which will happen a lot, don't automatically go for the worst outcome. Give your character a chance to set things right first. For example if you roll a miss for climbing up a mountain, give your character an opportunity to make a roll to break their fall. That type of thing. If you go big too soon you'll leave yourself with nowhere to go.
4) Make the most of Opportunities when they happen. You'll find out what they are playing the game. They are a great way to add exciting and fun elements into the adventure. I had a string of these in one encounter, and it's ended up with my character now having a giant for a girlfriend.

I've felt a bit shy to share this with you before. I've just started a new playthrough of Pathfinder - Kingmaker. It's a Western RPG based on an edition of Dungeons and Dragons. Your main character can form a party of six. There are a variety of fully fleshed out characters you can pick to be in your party. However I thought I'd so something different and create four characters so that the four of you regulars can be in the party instead. I am a paladin who serves the goddess of beauty, art and love. I kick enemies butt, defend the squishier party members, and can provide some buffs and heals too. I look human, but one of my ancestors got down with an angel, so I get to have a halo. Chloé Halfling (i.e. hobbit) rogue. A dodge tank. You're there to take the blows so that the rest of us don't have to. Don't worry you'll be too small and quick to be hit most of the time.
Jessica Human barbarian. There for pure damage. You hit enemies with a big sword, and have a pet sabretooth tiger. Your pet can put in a lot of damage himself.
Maria Human bard. There for support and buffs. Your sub-class is called Thundercaller, soon your song will be able to strike foes with thunder, both damaging and stunning them.
Kelli Ann Human cleric. Sorry but someone has to be the healer. As a consolation you will get a pet leopard once you level up a few times. You also have the nicest outfit in your portrait.
The sixth member is a character already in the game. She's a half-elf Wizard-Rogue called Octavia. She is most importantly a romance option.
What do you think of your characters? Sorry so many of you are boring humans, but that was just the best option for your roles.
Almost a week on I'd say that you're all doing very well. Chloe dodges like a boss. Jessica and Kevin wreck enemies. Maria you now command the power of Thor - you killed a entire group of giant caterpillars with the sound of your voice. Kelli Ann is doing what she's there for, keeping everyone on their feet. The pet leopard hasn't quite arrived yet but will soon enough. Jessica - you have an another animal companion, a red panda called Ember. They are very much a support pet, helping to soothe your soul after a hard day of slaughtering all before you. Kelli Ann - you have a cat called Tiger, they're there to help you hunt and spot hidden enemies or items. Jessica, feel free to suggest a name for the leopard if you want.

I'd like my panda to be named Frank. Thanks in advance. I've just checked, and your red panda is a girl. Would you like to reconsider your choice? Also the leopard will be male when he arrives, if you want to come up with a name for him, and there's Kelli Ann's pet cat, also male, too. Their owner hasn't expressed any preferences for names yet.

Frank could be short for Francesca? I love red pandas. They have some that live at our nearest zoo which we have annual passes for. They are always on our must-see list, along with the otter and penguins.

I found the most amazing thing There is a female YouTube creator who I enjoy. She does play-throughs of games and commentates as she does. I have been watching an episode of her Skyrim series over lunch on days where I can for a while now. Anyway, I noticed yesterday that she had a new playlist/series up - of a game called Boyfriend Dungeon. Even as someone who isn't particularly interested in men, It. Is. Incredible! A lot of which I put down to her commentary ("You appear to not know how to use shirt buttons and honestly... I'm ok with that" 😂) but also the game is just funny as well. If you want a giggle, I highly recommend checking it out The YouTube channel is Mishka Rae if you do want to

I watched a live Twitch stream of that game at the weekend, the two streamers were absolutely hilarious. Not a game for me to play but it was great fun to watch. The streamers were Voxy and Amazonian.

Mine was a Vanguard, what class was yours? I was an infiltrator. I am usually someone who just likes to plow forward and shoot people, but I also wanted the electronic abilities to open boxes and stuff.

After not playing for a little while as I got hooked on Outriders, I came back to Dragon Quest a few days ago. Not going to lie... that was NOT what I was expecting to happen when we reached the world tree 😱
